BUBBA Junior Hydroplane Series Welcomed to Pleasant Ridge, Maine. Drivers Greeted by Friendly Fans and Windy Conditions

Pleasant Ridge, ME – With a challenging weather forecast including strong winds the BUBBA Burger Junior Hydroplane Race Series ran its inaugural “Race at the Ridge” event in Pleasant Ridge Maine. On Saturday clear skies and a favorable wind direction helped produce some of the best racing of the year. Unfortunately, due to the high winds and rough water conditions, for the second time in 2019, race officials needed to cancel declare a “blow out” and cancel Sundays racing.

In Saturday’s Junior Hydroplane event, 2018 BUBBA burger Champion, Eden Deware of Easton MA, showed why she is a top contender for this year’s crown by driving her Team BUBBA Burger boat to commanding win in the Junior Hydroplane class. Quin Roberts of Chester, NH drove hard to a second-place finish and Riley Young of CT was third.

In the AX (Novice) class event it appeared that the luck of the day was with Quin Robert’s when Matt Mead lead the entire field of boats, except Roberts, over the starting line too soon leading to multiple starting penalties. After all was sorted out, Roberts was declared the winner with second place going to Matt Mead and Riley Young taking third.

At the midpoint of the season it appears that Team BUBBA driver, Eden Deware has established herself as the driver to beat in the Junior Class. Quin Roberts is right on her tail and looks to be the best bet to upset Deware.

In the BUBBA burger AX Class, defending 2018 AX Champion David Woodle looks very strong in defense of his title with several drivers looking to fill in the remaining podium positions at Novembers Champions Banquet.

The next event on the 2019 BUBBA burger New England Junior Hydroplane Championship Series will be the Annual “Fall Classic” in Standish, Maine.

The BUBBA burger New England Junior Hydroplane Championship Series is a twelve event New England race series hosted by the South Shore Outboard Association (www.southshoreoutboard.com ) and sanctioned by the American Power Boat Association.    Since its inception in 1953, the SSOA has produced over 1000 race events throughout New England.  Additionally, SSOA drivers have won over 100 National, North American and World Championships and in 2019 will have several current or past National Championship drivers counted among its rolls and competing in the New England events.
