The BUBBA burger New England Junior Hydroplane Championship Series is a New England race series for youth and novice hydroplane racers. The Series consist of separate races for two classes of boats both using the hydroplane boat hull design and a single fifteen horsepower outboard engine. The “Junior” class is for drivers between the ages of nine and sixteen years old and utilizes a carburetor restrictor plate to reduce the engine horsepower to approximately ten horsepower giving these boats a top speed of 40 MPH. The “AX (Novice) Class” has a minimum age of twelve years old with no upper age limit. The primary difference between the Junior class and the AX is the removal of the restrictor plate in AX giving these boats a top speed in excess of 50 MPH.

“We are very excited to be part of this great series”, said Andy Stenson, Director of Marketing at BUBBA burger. “It’s racing organizations like the SSOA and the APBA and racing series like the “BUBBA burger Hydroplane Championship Series that provide kids an opportunity to learn about competition, sportsmanship, and building confidence during a family friendly event.”

Sanctioned by the American Power Boat Association (www.apba.org), North America’s premier sanctioning body for powerboat racing, the series is hosted by The South Shore Outboard Association (www.southshoreoutboard.com).
